Bethel Regional High School Principal, Alicia Miner, has been named Alaska Association of Secondary School Principals (AASSP) Region VII Principal of the Year.

AASSP sponsors regional and statewide Principal of The Year recognition awards to honor the educational leaders who play such a pivotal role in student success. They may be nominated by anyone – students, staff, parents, district office staff or principal peers - with awards finalized by AASSP members in their region. Regional Principals of The Year are eligible to be in the running for the statewide Alaska Principal of The Year.

Ashley Crace, LKSD Director of Special Education, shared that Principal Miner works tirelessly to ensure her school is safe and welcoming, and that her students received the best education possible. "It amazes me how she knows every student in her building and attempts to make connections and build positive relationships with all of them."

Superintendent Kimberly Hankins congratulated Principal Miner on her recognition and the work she has done to develop positive relationships with students and families at Bethel Regional High School. "She maintains excellent communication with families and works to provide opportunities for family engagement in the school, such as through community dialogues or family night events." Superintendent Hankins added, "I appreciate her dedication to the students, staff, and families she serves."

Mrs. Miner will be awarded and recognized at the 58th Annual Alaska Principals' Conference in Anchorage.
