Beverly Chmielarczyk
Teacher of the Year 2021
Ms. Chmielarczyk has been with LKSD for 24 years, starting her career at Ket’acik and Aapullak Memorial School in Kwethluk, then moving to Gladys Jung Elementary, and currently teaching secondary science at Bethel Regional High School in Bethel.
According to her colleagues, during the pandemic Ms. Chmielarzyk went above and beyond the required basics to provide students with content that was meaningful, interesting, and fun. She has her own passion for learning which she exemplifies with her students.
She has been involved in numerous projects such as Fresh Eyes on Ice, Weather Station and Monitoring, Winterberry Project, and multiple studies with her students on salmon hatching through Fish and Game. She creates place-based lessons that pave a clear and stimulating path to actively engage with science.
