Situational Emergency Plan Templates Evacuation of
Building

Procedures
1. If danger is threatening, the Principal or
designee notifies appropriate response departments
(SEE ABOVE LISTING) and Superintendent's Office.
2. Administrative Assistant/Teacher Checks
hallways and classrooms
3. Special Education Teacher checks hall ways,
special education areas.
4. Secretary checks office area, lounge,
restrooms & prepares
student release cards. Sounds Emergency
Signals as directed by Principal.
5. Nurse checks medical room, provides first
aid, assist as with special education students, and
takes medical emergency cards
out of building.
6. Teachers depart with their class following
exit route indicated on the Evacuation Map posted
in the classroom and emergency folder.
7. Librarian checks library and media rooms.
8. Teachers Aide checks PE, music and art rooms
and alternate education
room/s.
9. Maintenance/Custodian check restrooms &
outside campus areas, should turn off electrical
power, oil flow valves, and propane valves, if
needed. Check for, and seal off
Hazardous Areas and notify
principal. direct Emergency Response Personnel to
area of emergency/crisis situation.
General
Rules
a. Lights may be
left on.
b. The last people to leave an area are to close
all doors.
c. Maintain silence at all times.
d. Students should move in single file lines in
and out of the buildings.
e. Lines are to stop a Minimum of 100 feet
outside of the building unless
informed otherwise.
f. Lines are not to stop in the parking areas or
in driveways in front of the
school campus, as these may become fire or
evacuation lanes.
g. Teachers are to take their grade books and
emergency folders with them.
h. Teachers are to remain with their class and
take roll.
I. Everyone must leave the building when
evacuation order/signal is given.
j. Recall will be signaled when conditions are
suitable.
k. Silence should be maintained when re-entering
the building.
l. Personnel on breaks are to assist with their
students.
Provide your local fire or public safety
department with a map of your school buildings and
surrounding parking and driveway areas.
If an alarm is
accidentally activated, push the acknowledge or
silence button. Do not reset until the building is
checked and public safety - fire personnel have
arrived.
