For School Board Recognition Month, LKSD will feature a profile on each of our Regional Board Members.
Clarence
Daniel has been on the LKSD Board since being appointed in March 2013.
He was elected to a 3-year term in 2014. Mr. Daniel serves on Seat H
representing Bethel. He has been Vice-President and Secretary on the
Board.
During his high school years in Tuntutuliak, he was appointed to serve as Student Representative to the Board.
Mr. Daniel also serves statewide on the Alaska Association of School Boards.
Mr. Daniel stated, “My favorite part of being on the school board is
helping build programs and opportunities for all students. I first got
involved with the Bethel ASB because I felt we could do more to prevent
and intervene bullying in schools and after two full terms and an
appointment I decided to run for the LKSD board where I continue to
fight for what’s best for our students. I have 6 children so I have a
vested interest in education now and for many years to come. Prevention
and intervention of bullying and bilingual language are two issues near
and dear to my heart, but all issues affecting our children’s education
are equally important to me.”
An interesting fact many people don’t know about Clarence Daniel is
that he was born with 2 front teeth and he can shoot a mean deep three.
