Academic Pentathlon is a five-event competition at the 6th to 8th grade level and was modeled after the Academic Decathlon - a ten-event competition. The five events are Speech, Essay written from prompts on two books, Math, Science, and Super Quiz, which is based on currents events. The students are placed into categories based on their grade point average in core classes from their past three semesters. Honors category for A students, Scholastic category for B students, and Varsity for students that have a grade point average of below 3.0. The top student in each category is recognized at the awards ceremony and recieves a cash prize.
